Another hand to open jars and bottles

Another hand to open jars and bottles
GORDON ELLIS

Derby Spill Not
I know people who have actually taken jars back to the supermarket because the they could not get the lid off.

There are a number of jar opening gizmos available, including electrical devices, but I only know of one that allows you to open a container with only one hand. And there are a lot of people around who have only one good strong hand. Auntie Mary’s arthritis stops her from gripping things like she used to, and Peter’s stroke has severely weakened all his right side.

It has been around for years. It is simply a great solution to the problem of opening jars and bottles. The Derby Spill-Not allows you to open the jar or bottle with just one hand. It holds the container for you in one of three graduated inverted rubber cones; lets you hold the lid securely and remove it from the container; less chance of spillage. It sits on the kitchen worktop so you can use your body weight to push down if necessary. No motors, no batteries; just three grippy holders to open all containers from 1 inch to 4 inches, from pill bottles to peanut butter jars. You can wash it up just like any other kitchen utensil.
